iPhone icon — Dublin, Ireland
Posted on 18. Jul, 2009 by Jonze in Graphic design, Portfolio
I was contacted by a iPhone app developer from Dublin who was looking for an icon to be designed for an app he was working on:
I’m designing a program for the iPhone to show the Arrivals/Departures information at Dublin Airport.
This is the design I came up with:

Simple, clean and obvious. I like. One really really tiny question and it might sound silly but… The logo is for both arrivals and departures, but some might say that an airplane going up looks like departures only (not arrivals). Did this come up at any stage in design discussions?

I never thought of that! It’s a good point though.
The design I’ve posted here isn’t actually the final design, it was just a mock up to show him how it would look. The final design actually had the plane without the angle, it was just vertical. Probably a similar problem there though!
The app is doing well at the moment (I hear) so it mustn’t have been a problem!

Thanks for explaining that — and excellent to hear their app is doing well
